Radiesse Allen Aesthetic Surgery, Dr. Amber L Allen

Radiesse is an injectable that adds volume to your skin and rejuvenates your skin barrier. Radiesse is formulated with calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA)– tiny microspheres that stimulate collagen production– to diminish signs of facial aging. Although changes to your skin are a natural part of aging, some patients find that diminishing fine lines and wrinkles boosts their self-esteem. In 2023, specialists performed more than 3.4 million dermal filler treatments to help patients restore volume to their skin and enhance their complexions. (1)

At Allen Aesthetic Surgery, Dr. Amber L Allen has helped many patients enhance their appearance with customizable treatment. She is a cosmetic surgeon who is well-known for her artistic approach and customizable treatments. Dr. Allen is committed to creating beautiful and natural-looking results for every patient.

About Radiesse

As you age, your skin’s levels of collagen– a protein that helps your skin barrier maintain its smooth, plump appearance and structure–naturally decline. Radiesse increases the levels of collagen and elastin in your skin to renew your skin barrier over time. If you have deep folds around your mouth, the nonsurgical treatment can improve your appearance as well as other areas of the body. (2) The filler can also add volume to the buttocks for a smoother contour and lifted appearance.

The well-tolerated treatment has helped patients achieve a more radiant complexion and improve the volume of their skin for decades. It works by providing immediate volume and stimulating collagen production for long-lasting results. When administered to the skin, Radiesse can improve the appearance of: (3)

  • Severe wrinkles
  • Volume loss
  • Lax skin of the face and body (including hands)
  • Cellulite
  • Fine lines
  • Sagging (ptosis) of the skin
  • Dull-looking complexion

Dermal Fillers vs. Botox

Dermal fillers add volume to your skin, while Botox relaxes the muscles in your face to prevent fine lines and wrinkles from forming. Unlike dermal fillers, Botox does not add volume to the skin. It also does not increase collagen production to rejuvenate your skin barrier. If you would like to restore volume to your skin and prevent signs of facial aging, we can administer both treatments during one appointment for smoother skin and a more youthful look. Benefits of Rejuvenation with Radiesse

There are several benefits of Radiesse, including:

  • Improved facial volume: You can enjoy a plumper, more radiant, and well-rested appearance by restoring volume to your complexion.
  • Balanced proportions: Since Radiesse is suitable for deep tissue, we can use the dermal filler to balance your proportions.
  • Fewer fine lines and wrinkles: You can enjoy a more youthful-looking complexion since the collagen in the filler reduces signs of facial aging.
  • More even skin tone: Increasing your levels of collagen and elastin with the filler can reduce discoloration and scars for a more even complexion.
  • Minimal downtime: You can return home afterward, but it can take a few days for the treatment to settle into your skin.
  • Quick, effective procedure: Radiesse is well-known for its ability to quickly add volume to your skin and effectively enhance high-volume areas.
  • Long-lasting results: If you take good care of your skin, you can maintain your results with a touch-up appointment.

Candidates

If you are a healthy nonsmoker who would like to improve the appearance of your skin without incisions or anesthesia, you are likely a good fit for the procedure. Suitable candidates for Radiesse would like to improve the appearance of:

  • Deep nasolabial folds (lines framing the mouth extending down)
  • Furrowed brow lines
  • Fine lines surrounding the mouth
  • Thin lips
  • Sunken cheeks
  • Hollow under eyes

Since Radiesse stimulates collagen production, it is well-tolerated. This makes it an ideal treatment for those with sensitive skin. To receive this dermal filler, you must be in good overall health with no existing skin infections or keloidal scars. You must also have reasonable expectations about how Radiesse can improve your skin. You are likely not a good candidate for the treatment if you have a bleeding disorder that would affect the ability of the filler to settle into your skin.

Personal Consultation

Radiesse Allen Aesthetic Surgery, Dr. Amber L Allen

During your consultation with Dr. Allen, she will ask about your cosmetic concerns and examine your skin to understand your goals. Please come prepared to discuss your medical history, current medications, and aesthetic goals in depth to help Dr. Allen create a personalized treatment plan for your specific needs. It is important to be transparent about the look you would like to accomplish, and Dr. Allen can also recommend additional treatments during this time if you have additional body goals. We offer several different injectable treatments to help patients improve their complexion and the quality of their skin.

Preparation & Treatment Steps

In the weeks leading up to your treatment, you will need to:

  • Stop using medications and supplements that thin your blood
  • Protect your skin from sun damage
  • Stop drinking alcohol 24 hours before and after

On the day of your treatment, you will need to arrive with clean skin, without makeup or skincare products. We will cleanse your skin and administer a local anesthetic to the area. Dr. Allen will administer the filler with a gentle technique that does not result in an “overfilled” appearance. She uses the formula to add volume while creating a natural look.

After Your Treatment

After Dr. Allen administers the treatment, you can return home, but it can take a few days for the treatment to settle into your skin. The injectable is generally well-tolerated, but some patients do experience temporary swelling or skin irritation around the injection site. If you do experience any discomfort, you can alleviate it with a cold compress as long as you do not put pressure on the skin while the filler settles.

Results

Although you can enjoy an increase in volume immediately, it can take several weeks for Radiesse to renew your skin barrier. The tiny microspheres in the formula will gradually raise the levels of collagen in your skin for a smoother look. Many patients enjoy a plumper, smoother, more radiant appearance afterward. If you take good care of your skin, you can enjoy lasting results.

Non-Surgical Butt Lift With Radiesse

If you would like to improve the appearance of your buttocks without the risk of incisions or downtime of anesthesia, Dr. Allen can help you balance your proportions with Radiesse. Many patients who are considering a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) but do not have enough fat for a transfer choose to enhance their buttocks with Radiesse as well. Unlike a surgical BBL, Radiesse offers several advantages:

  • We can increase the volume of your buttocks without incisions, anesthesia, or downtime.
  • You can enjoy immediate results and the treatment is customizable based on your body proportions.
  • Since we use a topical anesthetic, you can enhance your appearance with a comfortable treatment.

Additional Treatments

Depending on your aesthetic goals, we can different injectables to help you rejuvenate your appearance:

  • Botox is a neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes the muscles to reduce repetitive facial expressions that wear on the skin. The injectable can prevent fine lines and wrinkles from forming.
  • Restylane is a hyaluronic-acid-based formula that is designed to address deeper wrinkles in the lower face. If you are struggling with the appearance of volume loss or droopy jowls, the filler can rebalance your complexion.
  • Bellafill is a dermal filler that can reduce the appearance of smile lines (nasolabial folds) for a smoother, younger-looking appearance.

If we recommend additional treatments, the type you need will depend on the condition of your skin, your medical history, and your aesthetic goals. To learn more about dermal fillers or other cosmetic treatments offered at Allen Aesthetic Surgery, see the blog.
