ZWave for Cellulite

Offered at our convenient location in Raleigh, NC

Woman with cellulite on her back thighs. ZWave for Cellulite at Allen Aesthetic Surgery.

Cellulite is a condition that affects many people, but is especially common in women. The appearance of cellulite is that of dimpled skin or an “orange peel” appearance, and it can detract from the otherwise pleasing contours of the body. The cause of cellulite is a build-up of fat cells beneath the skin. The connective tissue in these areas is thicker, and oriented differently in women, which contributes to the appearance of cellulite. [1] While many treatments are available, most are only temporary solutions. ZWave uses high-energy radial shockwaves to target the underlying causes of cellulite. This treatment helps to break down fat cells, stimulate collagen production, and improve elasticity. As a result, patients can see a significant improvement in the firmness and smoothness of their skin. Best of all, ZWave is a non-invasive procedure with no downtime. That means you can return to your busy life without worrying about cellulite.

Now, patients in Raleigh, NC, can experience the effects of ZWave for themselves. Double-board certified cosmetic surgeon Dr. Amber Allen offers this and many other treatments that create stunning results for the face and body. Dr. Allen believes we should all look and feel our best, so there is no reason to deal with unsightly cellulite. Learn about this groundbreaking procedure and many others that will leave you looking stunning from head to toe. All About Cellulite

Cellulite is characterized by dimpled skin, typically on the stomach, thighs, and buttocks. Many people have cellulite, but it is more predominant in females. [2] While cellulite is not a medical condition, it can be a source of embarrassment for many. Several treatment options for cellulite are available, including creams and massages; however, these methods are often ineffective. Cellulite occurs when fat cells become trapped in pockets of connective tissue. As the fat cells enlarge, they push against the skin, causing it to bulge. [2] The connective tissue also thickens and contracts, making the dimpling effect more pronounced. Several factors can contribute to cellulite formation, including:

  • Genetics
  • Diet
  • Lifestyle choices

Unfortunately, there is no sure way to prevent cellulite from forming. However, there are advanced therapies like ZWave that can help to reduce its appearance.

What is Zwave?

Zwave is a treatment option for cellulite that is non-invasive and effective. Using high-energy radial shockwaves, Zwave targets and reduces the appearance of cellulite and increases the skin’s overall smoothness and youthfulness. The Zwave acoustic (sound) waves are applied to the skin via a handheld wand, which helps break down fat cells, stimulate collagen production, and improve naturally lost elasticity as we age. [1]

Shockwaves travel faster than the speed of sound. [3] When these supersonic waves come in contact with the skin, they create pressure released in short pulses. This pressure helps break up the fibrous bands connected to the skin and underlying tissue, which causes the appearance of cellulite. While there is no cure for cellulite, high-energy radial shockwave therapy can help to reduce its appearance and improve your skin’s overall quality. [4]

What are the Benefits of Zwave for Cellulite?

When you use ZWave for cellulite, you will benefit from:

  • Reduced cellulite dimpling in the buttock, thighs, and stomach
  • Increased lymphatic circulation
  • Increased blood flow
  • Increased collagen production

After treatment, your skin will appear smoother and more youthful because of the increased collagen production.

What is Collagen?

Collagen is a protein found in the skin, bones, and connective tissues. It is the most abundant protein in the human body and makes up about 75% of the skin’s dry weight. [5] Collagen fibers provide strength and structure to the skin, helping it to resist stretching and sagging. The collagen molecule comprises three chains of amino acids that are twisted together to form a triple helix. [6] This dense structure gives collagen strength – the human body is the most incredible architect!

However, as we age, our bodies produce less collagen, leading to wrinkles and other signs of aging. Fortunately, there are many ways to boost collagen production. By increasing collagen levels, we can help to keep our skin looking youthful and radiant.

Candidates for Cellulite Treatment

Zwave treatment is a popular choice for those looking to reduce the appearance of cellulite. But who is a good candidate for this treatment? Generally, healthy individuals with moderate cellulite are good candidates for Zwave treatment. The treatment is not recommended for those with severe cellulite or health conditions that could make the treatment risky, such as:

To prepare for your ZWave procedure, you will need to remove any clothing or jewelry that might be in the way of the device. You will also need to remove any lotions or oils from your skin. Next, we will clean the treatment area with an antiseptic solution and apply a gel to help the device move more smoothly over your skin. The device will then be placed on your skin and activated. You may feel a pulsing sensation as the waves pass through your body. The entire treatment session will last for about 10 minutes. Afterward, you can return to your normal activities. There is no downtime associated with ZWave treatment!

ZWave can provide long-lasting results paired with a healthy lifestyle and continued treatments.
